Earth Day Recap
We had over 2000 people watch us live from around the world on April 22, 2020, the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day. Thank you to everyone who joined. We had some technical issues with sound but it was still great to chat with Robin Bell and share our WARMING WATERS project and what we are doing during the pandemic. Here is the video from the event, which was streamed live on Facebook and Periscope.
We had wonderful feedback and live comments from over 100 people. We are grateful to everyone in Washington and Katakhali Village, Bangladesh who has been working on the saris. The project is supported by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. Our media and community partners are We Act Radio, WPFW 89.3 FM, Mom’s Clean Air Force, Anacostia Arts Center, Eaton Hotel, Adams Morgan Community Center at the Line Hotel, and Calvary Women’s Services. Special thanks for the wonderful video messages sent by Jeffrey Scott of DCCAH, Ben de Guzman of the DC Mayor’s Office for Asian Pacific Islander Affairs, Elizabeth Brandt of Mom’s Clean Air Force, A. Tianna Scozzaro of the Sierra Club’s Gender and Environment Program, Matoara Islam of the Katakhali Cooperative, and Daniela Gonzalez of Ecomadres and Regenerative Solutions. Thanks also for incredible work by our marketing and PR team Karen Baker and Kelly Davidson and our project assistants Maps Glover and Kia Green. We are grateful to Sora for technical support.
Stay tuned for the postponed actual installation, which we hope will be this summer. — Monica Jahan Bose
