WRAPture Woodblock Workshop @ Anacostia Arts Center | Washington | District of Columbia | United States

Get paid to make art and learn about climate change!

Bangladeshi-American artist and climate activist Monica Jahan Bose is launching a new temporary public art project and needs your help to create it! This November, Monica and her team are starting work on WRAPture, a public art installation that will wrap 5 buildings in Historic Anacostia on April 4, April 14, and May 9. Over the next 6 months Monica will be collaborating with community members to create these saris.

Monica seeks paid assistants* to sign up for the workshops as well as student interns who will receive community service credit. Participants will learn woodblock printing, create artwork that will be displayed, and discuss and learn about the effects of climate change.

*Spots are LIMITED. We will be working on 2 saris per workshop and only have spots for 12 people each time. RSVP to confirm your participation. Please email storytellingwithsaris@gmail.com if you need to release your reservation.  This project is made possible by a generous grant from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts. The project is also supported by our community partners Anacostia Arts Center and We Act Radio.
