My solar panels are up!

I am very excited that my solar panel installation on my roof is finally complete and hooked up with the electricity line. I have been waiting for the permitting etc. for a long time but the process is moving forward. I have had a series of Solar Salon gatherings to tell people about the importance of shifting to renewables like solar energy. My panels each have a micro-inverter to measure the amount of solar energy being generated. The energy generated will first be used for electricity in my house. If anything is left, it will enter the grid and be used by others and I will receive credit for it. The US federal government is currently giving a 30% tax rebate for the cost of installing solar panels. The Washington DC government has further incentives in place.

I am working with Green Brilliance, a company that manufactures high-quality panels in India and is also engaged in providing solar energy in rural communities in Asia that are off the grid.

I was inspired to invest in solar panels by the women of Katakhali, many of whom have entered into three-year contracts for a single solar panel, spending about 20% of their monthly income. They figured out the math and told me that it makes sense because in three years you recoup your investment!

Please get in touch with me to learn more about solar energy or other ways to reduce your carbon footprint.
