Update 10: Website Launch…
Update 10: Website Launch, Performance, and Talk!
Dear friends,
I have several exciting pieces of news. First, we have launched a website for Her Words: Storytelling with Saris. Check out the bios of the 12 Kathakhali women working with me on the project. Much more content will be going up in the coming months. The updates you have been getting from me have been included in the “Blog.”
Second, I have received a grant from the Art Lives Here program for a performative intervention using the collaborative saris that we just made. In June, I will be doing a three day outdoor performance/intervention in Mt. Ranier, Maryland, right on the NE District line.
Also, on April 29 I will be giving a talk in New York about the project as part of a panel, along with filmmaker Nandita Ahmed who came with me to Katakhali to document the project. This panel is organized by the South Asian Women’s Creative Collective.
“Illuminating Contemporary Feminisms in South Asia: Why Loiter? and Storytelling with Saris,”
Monday, April 29, 7–9PM
@ Asian American Writers’ Workshop
110-112 West 27th St (btw 6th and 7th Aves)

Please do spread the word. I would love to see you at these upcoming events in DC and NY!
Warm regards and many thanks for your support,
Monica
